The Setup (aka сategorization) feature appears as soon as you hit Connect to link to any Sales Channel within the Shoppingfeed app.
Its task is to help you categorise your products and ensure that all the required tags/attributes have been added to your products to avoid any rejected products.
Setup (categorization), what is it?
The Setup page consists of two important parts:
- The mapping of your store categories with the corresponding channel/marketplace categories
- Required/Optional attributes (depending on the channel/marketplace category you assigned)
When the two above steps are completed for any given store category, from your Catalogue, Shoppingfeed will recognise this immediately and will mark such store category as Configured.
If a store category hasn't been categorized or it lacks a required tag/attribute for the assigned channel/marketplace category, then Shoppingfeed will consider your store category as Misconfigured, and products under that (Misconfigured) product group will be rejected by most sales channels.
How it works
Every time you hit the 'Connect' button to open a new sales channel on your Homepage in Shoppingfeed
you will arrive on the following SETUP page:
On the left-hand side, you can recognise your store categories (aka Shopify Product Types).
NOTE: By default, all of them have the status Misconfigured.
In order to configure them, select any store category by clicking on it and then start typing a keyword under the Category Mapping on the right-hand side.
Category Mapping
Select any store category by clicking on it (left-hand side) and then on the right-hand side start typing any keyword under the Category Mapping.
You should then start seeing a category tree with different channel categories to choose from. You will see a list of categories in alphabetical order so you simply need to type a keyword to filter them.
You can select the most suitable category for your products by clicking on it and then hit 'Save'.
After you saved the 'category' mapping, Shoppingfeed will mark the categorized store category as Configured (on the left-hand side) and may also show you some required(optional) tags/attributes for the selected channel category, if any.
Previous Mapping feature
When categorizing different groups of products that may have a similar channel category you can always use/assign a channel category from the Previous mapping. It will be pinned at the top.
Tags/Attributes Mapping
Some Channel categories may not require any additional information to be added to your products. For example:
Some channel categories may require some additional tags/attributes. For example:

The required fields may also have the 'Suggested Values' to choose from. For example:
Image will be available soon.
- If there are Suggested Values available, please select one of the values from the suggested list.
- If there are no Suggested Values and the field is marked as required you can either assign a dynamic field from your online store with the {} brackets or set some static values within the square brackets [].
Ready to proceed further?
On the Setup page, you can monitor the percentage of your configuration/categorization and the Continue button which allows you to proceed further to your Sales Channel dashboard.
Feel free to configure all your categories on the setup page and then hit Continue (at the top right corner).
If not, you can configure one or two store categories, to begin with, and then come back to finish the categorization later!
