Basic Amazon Requirements
1. Professional Seller Account
Note: The Professional plan gives you the opportunity to sell an unlimited number of products and pay a $39.99 monthly subscription fee. You can get more details about Amazon Professional Seller Account and Fees Structure here.
2. Category Approval
Listing your products in some categories requires category approval (specific permissions from Amazon). Amazon limits access to sell in these categories to help ensure that sellers meet standards for product and listing quality as well as other category-specific requirements. Only sellers with a Professional Selling Plan subscription can sell in these categories.
You can find more details on Amazon categories here.
Listing with GTINs (EANs/UPCs/barcodes)
Amazon requires GTINs (EANs/UPCs/barcodes) assigned to your products (including variations).
Using GTIN (Global Trade Item Number - UPC, ISBN, EAN and other GTIN) to create new product listings is the first step in ensuring a high-quality shopping experience for Amazon customers. Using a GTIN also makes it easier for sellers to add more information to the product detail pages. Most categories require sellers to use a GTIN when creating new listings or when matching to the existing products in the Amazon catalog.
What is GTIN (EAN/UPC/barcode) and how to make sure that it is valid?
ASIN creation
In the case you have brand-new GTIN barcodes assigned to your products, Amazon will create an ASIN for each product using the product data from your storefront (such as title, brand, variation attributes, etc.) And then, if any other seller comes to Amazon with that same GTIN barcode, they will be forced to match to your existing listing as well as to the most of the product data you used to get the listing created originally.
If you, as a seller, give Amazon a GTIN barcode that has been in their catalog before, then you will be forced to match to the existing ASIN (aka listing) and become an added seller of that product.

Requesting for a GTIN exemption
Amazon understands that some products do not have a GTIN. If your product(s) is already listed on Amazon, you can list your offer on the existing product detail page and do not need to provide a GTIN. If your product is not listed on Amazon, you need to request for a GTIN exemption.
