Amazon is the largest Internet-based retailer in the world by total sales and market capitalization. They are globally ranked as the TOP site for online shopping.
1. Make sure you meet all Amazon requirements.
To open the Amazon channel in Shoppingfeed, you must make sure that you have an Amazon Professional Account. Without one, we will not be able to submit products to your Amazon storefront.
For each product you wish to list, you must first be able to provide them with a valid product identifier such as a UPC (12-digit barcode) or an EAN (13-digit barcode). This also includes variations. If not, they will fail to list your product immediately. This link is directly from Amazon, showing how you can locate/obtain the product identifiers for your products.
Kindly see this link. You may need to get Category Approval from Amazon to list. This shows you the requirements for each category and how to apply. You must get approval from Amazon to list in this category if you wish to list in categories from this list.
Also, something to keep in mind is that you must make sure your images in your storefront can meet Amazon's image requirements. If they do not, Amazon will "Suppress" your listing. This means the listing is not active nor available for search just yet due to the product image. Kindly see this link to see Amazon's image requirements.
2. Set color and size fields.
This can be done with the manage colors and sizes tab. Below are fields that have been discovered in your product data. These fields act as containers, which hold specific information about your product variation. Among them are your product variation attributes. These variation attributes define the parent-child relationship you've created in your storefront. For each attribute, if this is used as a drop-down option on your storefront, you want to make sure you assign it as a Color, Size or Other.
If you have any products that use two drop-down options (Such as Pillows that use Size AND Pattern), please make sure to assign one attribute as a color and the other attribute as a size (i.e. assign Size as Size and Pattern as Color) This will help Shoppingfeed understand any products that use 2 variation attributes (drop down options) on the store-front and be able to replicate that in the outgoing datafeed to the marketplace/channel.
Note
Marketplaces typically only allow products to have two drop-down lists, so for products that use 3 drop-down options (variation attributes), please let us know so that our Support Team can further assist you.
3. Connect your Shoppingfeed account to your Amazon channel.
Essentially, what you need to do is authorize in the Amazon channel tab in Shoppingfeed. And you'll be directed to your Amazon with further instructions.
4. Categorize your products.
These are the broadest and most generalized categories for your listings. (i.e., electronics, clothing, home.) Please do so by typing in the category box and finding the category that is most appropriate for your listings. Click here for more details.
Note your products must be categorized in order to be listed. Think of the category as the broad Amazon Grouping. We also recommend assigning an Amazon Browsenode. The browsenodes are a more granular product category, which helps determine a few things about your listings:
- How the buyer finds your product when filtering in Amazon
- The competitiveness of your listings among the other products assigned that browsenode.
5. On the AutoTag page go through each category and ensure all the required fields are entered.
Once set, these values are assigned to all of your listings in that category. These attributes are based on the Amazon categories set for each product type. These fields can be applied statically here or pulled dynamically from your storefront. Click here to go to the Auto Tag page.
In addition, for any field that asks for Size, it is recommended to use the field {autotag_size}. And for any field that asks for Color, you use the {autotag_color} field. Start typing "auto" into the required field, and you'll see drop-down options for you to choose from. Then select either autotag_size or autotag_color based if it's asking for Color or Size.
6. From the Amazon Dashboard, turn on products with the switches at the top of all of the categories.
Click here to go to the Amazon Dashboard. If this switch is grey then the products under that switch are turned off. If this switch is orange, then some of your products for that switch are turned on. If this switch is green, then all of your products for that switch are turned on.
By clicking into a category, you can expand that category, and then you can turn on the parent products in bold or various variations/children of those products listed beneath the parent. If you see the switch is grey, it means that the listing is turned off. Note you must turn on the parent product for any of its variations to be listed. Parents can be listed with no variations/children so long as it is turned on.
Note
Shoppingfeed sends several feeds to Amazon when doing an update. Your images may take some time to process and display.
7. Update the Channel.
The update button sends your changes to the queue to update your marketplace. Updates normally don't take very long, but during high traffic, periods can take as long as an hour.
8. (OPTIONAL): Troubleshoot Errors in the Error Investigator.
If there are any errors, you will see them in the Error Investigator. Here you can click on any errors. You will get a description, along with instructions on how to resolve the error. We also recommend downloading the Product Error Report at the top of the page if there are any errors that are unclear.
If you have any difficulty resolving errors, please contact us at support@shoppingfeed.com. Also, see our Amazon Pro Tips for more advanced Shopping Feed features.
