This development is necessary because tracking no longer passes through the URL on which the buyer clicks, but through a system that is activated in parallel with their action. To set it up, Shoppingfeed provides you with a URL system to configure on your Google Merchant account. This URL will serve as a model for Google's parallel tracking.
Here is the procedure to follow :
1. Disable tracking URL
To implement parallel tracking, you must first remove the tracking that occurs via the flow.
To do this, we invite you to modify the Google feed mapping by going to the “ Mapping ” tab of the Google Shopping platform.
On this page, you can modify line 25 of the mapping named "ads_redirect" by replacing the current association with an empty field:
in the drop-down list, by selecting the “Static field” option (at the top of the list) and leaving the box that appears empty.
You will need to save this modification by clicking on “Modify mapping” at the bottom of the page, before leaving the page, for the modification to be taken into account.
2. Start an update
In two steps:
- from Shoppingfeed, use the “Update this feed” button (at the top of the page on the right).
- on the Merchant Center, you will need to retrieve the feed, on the Product > Feed > “Reprocess feed” page:
3. Install parallel tracking in AdWords
On your Adwords account ( https://ads.google.com/aw/settings/account) , in the “Settings > Account Settings > Tracking” menu:
- Install the parallel tracking URL:
You will find under the “ Settings ” tab of the Google platform in your Shoppingfeed account the URL to use for parallel tracking and you will need to paste it on the page of your corresponding Adwords account.
To do this, go to the "Settings" menu, then "Account settings" and finally expand the section under the heading "tracking":
Copy the URL into the relevant field:
All you have to do is test and then save if the test is positive: your parallel tracking is now activated.
