Fields are containers where you can store data about your products. Once imported or created, their contents (values) can be used to help power Rules, can be found available as options in your AutoTag Tab as well as Field Mapping Tab, and mostly anywhere on the platform where you can drop down to select a specific {dynamic} field.
To create a new field, simply name it and click Save Changes.
If you want the field to have a default value, set it in the Current value box. This simply means that the value you put down will fill that field by default.
Using a field in a Rule
New fields you create can be used in Rules and Auto-Remove. Simply search for them in any field selection drop-down, or begin typing the name of the field, and click to select.
A custom field can be used to store information that a rule has set. For instance, a field could be created that is called Extra Shipping Cost with its default value set to zero.
This field can be manipulated and changed based on the product. Here is an example rule that fills the custom field with a different value, depending on how much the product weighs:
