Create a New Virtual Field
Fields allow you to enter data about your products. Creating a new virtual field can be useful for implementing search/replace rules, entering data about your products in Autotags or Mapping, and overall in all menus of a platform where you need to enter specific information.
To do this, go to the "Catalog > Fields" section of your Shoppingfeed account:
To create a new virtual field, simply click on the "+" icon, give it a name, and save it. You can also, upon creating this new field, assign it an original value. This means that your field will always have this value for all your products during its first use.
Using a field in a Rule
The new field you have created can be used in a search/replace rule or in an automatic removal rule. You can easily find your field in the dropdown menu of different usable fields or by typing its name, which will appear in autocomplete.
A custom field can also have a value given by a rule. For example, let's create a new field named "Additional Shipping Cost" with a default value of 0:
The value of this field can be changed based on the product. Here's an example of a rule that will modify the value based on the product's price:
Attention: Never name your new fields the same as the basic fields of Shoppingfeed or even with the words that make them up (example "image_cms"), as this can cause conflicts later on your account. Similarly, do not name these fields the same as those already present in your source feed.
Here is the list of basic fields in Shoppingfeed for information: autotag_color, autotag_size, brand, category, category_channel, description, ean, ecotax, link, mpn, name, old_price, parent_reference, price, quantity, reference, shipping_cost, shipping_time, short_description, stock, tracking_link, tva, weight, and any field containing the word "image."
